Roadrunner Launches Its First-Ever Outbound Canada-to-U.S. LTL Service, Connecting Key Canadian Markets to 40+ U.S. Metropolitan Areas via Its Smart Network™

5.9% general rate increase, effective Nov. 2, fueling investment in the network that made Canada possible.

CHICAGO, Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Roadrunner, the most tech-forward carrier in LTL, today launched its first-ever outbound Canada-to-United States LTL service, giving Canadian shippers seamless, direct access to the entire country through its proprietary Smart Network™, which spans more than 40 metropolitan areas across the U.S. To keep investing in the network that makes service like this possible, the company also announced an overall general rate increase (GRI) of 5.9% applicable to its RDFS 501 and RDFS 1000 base rates, effective November 2, 2026.

Ship Smart, Ship Roadrunner

Starting today, freight from Canada has direct access to Roadrunner’s long-haul network, offering fast, direct service and short transit times. For Canadian businesses, this provides a faster, premium option for reaching U.S. customers and expanding their operations across the border.

“For years, cross-border LTL shipping has involved too many handoffs, limited visibility, and the unspoken assumption that this is just how it works. Roadrunner rejected that notion,” said Dave Black, the LTL industry’s top cross-border Canada expert and VP of Strategic Sales at Roadrunner. “We built a proprietary Smart Network™ for direct, long-haul, metro-to-metro service, delivering fewer handling points, faster transit, real-time visibility, and greater accountability with no unnecessary transfer points to delay shipments or compromise visibility. We have focused primarily on strengthening our U.S. network, and we are pleased to announce our next phase of expansion. We took the time to establish the right processes to serve Canadian shippers facing numerous challenges with cross-border shipments and to make LTL shipping easier for them.”

“We already served Canada inbound, reaching major customers across Canadian provinces and major cities, from Toronto and Montreal in the east to Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton in the west. Opening outbound service opens the door for shippers targeting U.S. customers. Canadian shippers get the same direct, metro-to-metro service our U.S. customers count on, into more than 40 U.S. metro areas, 100% over the road with ZERO freight on rail. Every new lane starts with data and runs on technology. That’s what lets us grow and raise the bar on service at the same time, and it’s how we’re proving LTL can be better than the industry has settled for.”, concluded Black.

“To support expansion and further investment in better offerings, we’re introducing the GRI to sustain investment in our leading network. The adjustment addresses increased costs driven by market conditions and supports continued investment in network efficiency and service quality,” said Nathalie de Champlain, Chief Transformational Officer at Roadrunner. “As many carriers opt for cheaper modes of transport in the face of skyrocketing truckload cost increases, we’re reinforcing our commitment to direct long-haul routing: 100% over the road, ZERO freight on rail.”

“We built Roadrunner to challenge how LTL does business, starting with how service is measured. If we promise Tuesday at 5 pm, did it arrive Tuesday at 5 pm? Yes or no. That’s CPOV, our binary, no-excuse Customer Point of View measuring methodology. Traditional service metrics allow exceptions, like weather and appointment freight, that can show 100% service on a shipment that’s days late. We removed them because customers don’t experience exceptions; they experience the delivery. That standard now extends across the border,” de Champlain continued.

“The published figure is an overall rate, not a flat change on every shipment. Each customer’s increase depends on the lanes they ship and their freight characteristics,” said Thu Vu, Director, Pricing and Costing at Roadrunner. “Our customers count on Roadrunner for direct, reliable service and real-time visibility on every shipment. This adjustment keeps our pricing aligned with the cost of delivering that service and lets us keep investing in our network, our technology and our people. Updates to the Roadrunner 100 Rules Tariff will accompany the GRI. Customers can contact their Roadrunner account executive to see how the adjustment applies to their own lanes.”

The outbound Canada service is available immediately. Shippers and logistics partners interested in leveraging Roadrunner’s expanded North American network can contact their Roadrunner representative or visit www.RoadrunnerLTL.com for more information.
